Drag Reducer Support — from — QFLODRA.
Qflo – DRA
Drag Reducer – Experience Where It Matters
Drag Reducing Chemicals lower pipeline pressure, boost capacity, and cut oil transportation costs.
Move more oil, with less pressure and lower cost.

QFLODRA’s Role in Drag Reducer Support
Our Position in the Market
QFLODRA – does not manufacture Drag Reducer but we can often source the right DRA chemical for the job.
QFLODRA – Our focus is on providing specialist technical support and value-added services to our clients within the oil and gas industry.
Our Approach to Sourcing and Sales
We assess each pipeline to identify the client’s Drag Reducer needs, then help source suitable chemicals and injection systems. While we provide support and guidance, DRA sales are handled directly between clients and manufacturers. As a knowledgeable intermediary, QFLODRA ensures clients receive the best Drag Reducer Chemical and Injection System for their applications.
Our Core Services
Our expertise is centred on supporting two principal groups within the sector:
- Oilfield Chemical Companies that currently do not include Drag Reducer in their product portfolio. To these businesses, we offer comprehensive technical advice and support, enabling them to respond effectively to RFQs and to fulfil client requirements where Drag Reducer solutions are necessary. We identify and help source a suitable Drag Reducer Chemical and Injection System.
- Pipeline Operators seeking independent technical insight regarding Drag Reducer—the chemical and its associated injection systems. Our technical advisory services empower operators to make informed decisions that are tailored to their operational needs. For those already using DRA we offer troubleshooting for problematic installations and can recomend modifications to injection systems, enhancing their reliability.
- If DRA is already being used, we can analyse data from the pipeline and calculate a performance figure or curve, which can then be compared with the supplier’s stated performance.
Independence and Integrity
QFLODRA operates without any contractual relationships or non-disclosure agreements with DRA manufacturers. This ensures that all our consultations and recommendations remain fully independent, allowing us to offer unbiased advice that serves the best interests of our clients.

Drag Reducers:
Lowers Pipeline Pressures.
Increases Pipeline Flow Rates.
Increases Well or Field Production Rates.
Reduces Pipeline Operating Costs.
Reduces Carbon Footprint.

Drag Reducers lower turbulence in pipelines, enabling Crude Oil or Refined Fuels to flow more smoothly, lowering pressures, boosting throughput and reducing energy costs, all thanks to a small amount of intelligent chemistry.
Lower Pipeline Pressures:
Reducing the pressure within pipelines is a proven method for improving operational efficiency. Operators can significantly decrease the energy required to run the main Line (MOL) pumps. This not only results in reduced operational costs at pump stations but also contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions, supporting more environmentally sustainable pipeline operations. It can also lead to MOL pumps running at lower speeds, resulting in less noise, fewer vibrations, – a better work environment, – and a decrease in MOL pump wear and tear.
Flow Rate Boost:
If the Target is to increase the pipeline capacity. The lowering of pressure caused by the Drag Reducer can be countered by the MOL pumps thus increasing the pipeline flow rate.

Using Drag Reducer in Wellhead flow lines, can lead to single or multiple wells seeing a reduction in back pressure – boosting production levels.
It is not necessary to inject DRA in all flow lines connected to a manifold or trunk line to reduce the system back pressure.
Injection skids can be solar or gas powered air skids at locations where no power is available.
When used like this DRA has been known to reduce slugging in the line and reduce the number of spurious instrumentation alarms in the Process Control Room.
Our services include:
Hydraulic calculations for pipelines to determine the optimal DRA concentration required to achieve a clients specific performance objective.
Helping to source suitable DRA chemical.
Injection Skids – Dealing with in-country skid manufacturers to build new or adapt existing skids for DRA use. Design of bespoke skids with HMI and SCADA interfacing.
Troubleshooting existing problematic Drag Reducer installations.

QFLO can help with all aspects of Drag Reducer applications:
Will Drag Reducer work in your pipeline and can you achieve your target? — % Flow Rate Increase, Pressure Reduction or an energy/power saving requirement.
What chemical concentration and what type and size of injection skid would be needed to achieve your target?
How can DRA reduce my Pump Station energy use and how much energy reduction are we talking about?
If you are already using Drag Reducer – maybe you have injection problems, — QFLO has been trouble shooting DRA installations for 3 decades we can review your installation and advise any modifications or changes needed.
Are you using more DRA chemical than expected? QFLO can do a performance check on your current DRA Chemical, this can be compared to what was promised by your supplier.
